Where does the money go?
Currently all money goes directly to the children who need it. Funds are distributed either by i58 team members directly or through HopeGivers. Unlike many non-profit organizations all but 4.5% of the money (credit card processing fees) you donate goes directly to a actual child or to support or build an entire orphanage. Can I support an entire orphanage?
Yes! Supporting an entire orphanage is a great way to get involved on a personal level. There are many orphanages and schools that do not have any resources. They have no way to borrow or earn the money they need to meet the overwhelming demand of new children needing their assistance. Often times the only way to pay for the ongoing needs of their children is through donations from U.S. donors. View some of the orphanages in need.

Am I supporting a specific child?
The need is great in India, and the infrastructure is very poor. Often times, children are left with an orphanage with with no idea of where they came from. Funds are distributed as they are needed and only under the careful supervision of i58 or HopeGivers personnel. Often, we do not know the true need until we visit an orphanage. Many orphanages are very remote and difficult to contact. Each child costs approximately $23/month to support and every dollar you donate has an incredible impact.

What is the difference between i58 and HopeGivers?
Over 18 years ago, Dr. Flint McGlaughlin, founder of i58 met Dr. M.A. Thomas, founder of HopeGivers. He was impressed with the significant impact Dr. Thomas was making in India.
Since then, Dr. McGlaughlin has helped HopeGivers in a variety of capacities, including organizing humanitarian aid in the U.S. for support of the HopeGivers charity. i58 is a small, independent non-profit organization that provides aid to a number of organizations around the world. Supporting HopeGivers is the primary focus of the i58-India Project.

How do the orphans actually get the gifts I buy?
When you make a donation of money or actually purchase goods for the orphans or orphanages the money goes to HopeGivers staff in India. They distribute the money, or in the case of an actual purchase of goods (medical supplies, food, etc.) the goods are purchased in the local market and given to the orphanages based on need.
