The Children of Dakshin are the Lucky OnesThese children do not have fancy clothes or running water. They do not take warm showers in the morning and their diet consists of rice and bananas. Their humble sleeping quarters do little more than keep them dry amidst their wet jungle setting. Many of these children do not know who their parents are, and most of them have long forgotten where they came from and who their families are.
From a westerner's perspective these children have nothing. The reason these children are smiling is not because they have just finished playing a fast-paced video game with their friends. They are smiling because they are alive and because they are some of the lucky ones. They are smiling because today, someone has come to take their picture. It is one of themost exciting things that has happened in a while. Most importantly they are smiling because they are just a handful of the 83 million homeless children in India that were lucky enough to have a friend, family member or neighbor who cared enough to bring them to the Dakshin Children's Home. Here their lives are not easy. They are expected to care for each other and they follow very rigid schedules of meager meals, diligent prayer and study and daily chores. They stay here until they are old enough to leave, and in many cases start their own orphanages. Your donation will not buy them video games or computers. They will likely keep wearing the same worn out clothes that they do each day.
Your donation may help give them relief from scabies a disease that is easily cured but causes intense irritation for many of these children. Your donation may also make it possible for a few more children to find their way from a life of pain and suffering on the streets of India to this safe haven For just $500 per month you can support this entire orphanage. For under $16 per day you can feed, cloth and educate these 25 children.
Please help the children of Dakshin.
